Two Grade II listed gate houses at the entrance to a country estate...
The two gate lodges which stand at the entrance to the West Park Estate have been completely refurbished and imaginatively extended to provide unusual and highly desirable holiday accommodation.
Situated at one end of the attractive village of Rockbourne, they offer an ideal base from which to explore The New Forest (about 10 minutes' drive), the unspoilt countryside of the Cranborne Chase, an Area of outstanding Natural Beauty, the cathedral city of Salisbury and the South Dorset coast, approx. 20 miles away. Rockbourne itself is an attractive country village, the main street being lined with cottages of brick, cob and thatch either side of a winter bourne. Rockbourne has a Roman Villa which can be visited and a good thatched pub 'The Rose & Thistle'. Fordingbridge, 3.5 miles away, with its medieval arched bridge over the River Avon, provides the nearest shopping centre.
Built originally in the early 1800's and recently extended, the two lodges provide accommodation at ground floor level. The interiors have light, octagonal shaped rooms and combine stylish décor and furnishings with excellent kitchen and bathroom fittings.
