It would be hard to find a more peaceful, idyllic setting than this..... a secluded, "eyebrow" thatched cottage situated at the bottom of a woodland track in the heart of the New Forest, fronting the Hampshire Avon with fields beyond and set in ¾ acre of garden, which includes a series of ponds fed by natural springs. From the cottage there is immediate access onto the wood and open heathland of The New Forest and, for keen fishermen, more than half a mile of private fishing - rowing boat available on request.
The ancient New Forest landscape, where ponies and cattle are free to roam, is an ideal venue for walking, riding, cycling as well as offering many places of interest for its visitors - Beaulieu (abbey and motor museum), Bucklers Hard maritime museum, Lymington (yachting and trips to the Isle of Wight), Rockbourne Roman Villa, Breamore House, to name but a few. The larger cities of Salisbury, Southampton and Bournemouth are also within easy driving distance and the small country town of Fordingbridge, 4 miles away, provides a good local shopping centre.
Undercastle Cottage is a green oak, timber framed cottage recently built to a traditional design and to very high specifications. The interior is very tastefully furnished and includes interesting antique pieces. Two outhouses, close to the main cottage 'The Fishing Lodge' and 'The Hayloft', provide additional sleeping accommodation making this an unusual and highly desirable holiday property, which has been awarded the top 5 star grading by Visit Britain.
