Tucked
away at the end of a short track, Foxesearth is a self-contained annexe
to a modern house in the New Forest village of Nomansland. Situated on
the northern fringes of the forest, the village is a 15 minute drive
from the cathedral city of Salisbury and a little less from
Southampton. A short distance to the south is Lyndhurst, the "capital"
of the forest, and beyond that, on the coast, Lymington with its busy
quay and yachting marina. Attractions not to be missed are Beaulieu
(National Motor Museum & Palace House), Bucklers Hard (waterside
village) Exbury Gardens (stunning azeleas & rhododendrons). There
are also two nearby golf courses at Hampworth & Bramshaw).
Nomansland itself is set to one side of an attractive open green (see
"additional pictures"), where New Forest ponies graze and where
children and local village folk play cricket in the summer. The village
has a good pub and renowned French gourmet restaurant "Les Mirabelles".
