Hideaways’ New Forest cottages provide an ideal opportunity for discovering the unique landscape of The New Forest, to which William The Conqueror gave his special protection over 900 years ago. Now a National Park, the New Forest is still managed in the way that it has been for centuries. The Forest is home to roaming ponies, cattle, pigs and donkeys turned out by the 400 or more commoners who are entitled to graze their stock. The beauty of the Forest is legendary. Covering 220 square miles of heath, farm, woodland and coastal marshes it is rich in wildlife, ancient oaks, wild flowers, fungi, fallow deer, birds of prey – an area where nature still reigns supreme.
